New Reviews ROBERT PARKER by Monica Larner!

The reviews of the new vintages of Bolgheri on Robert Parker – Wine Advocate have just been published, by the Italian referent Monica Larner, where the DOC Bolgheri Bianco, DOC Bolgheri Rosso 2018, DOC Bolgheri Superiore 2017 and IGT Toscana were evaluated.

We are very pleased to read the following words about the 2017 harvest: “The good news is that these wines don’t show overtly jammy or overripe flavors or aromas. The heat and the drought have touched the mouthfeel more than the bouquet. In truth, Bolgheri offers a wide range of soils types … This important geologic patrimony gives each vintner the tools he or she needs to confront the warm vintages and the cool ones alike. This and the abundant grape varieties allowed in the appellation … makes Bolgheri one of the most flexible and modern wine areas of Italy.”

In particular, we are happy that our hard work to ensure a high level of quality, with always fresh and elegant wines even in difficult vintages such as 2017, has been rewarded by Larner, who has reviewed our wines with excellent ratings:

    • 94 points– Maurizio Fuselli 2016, “This wine shows the pedigree of its vintage with nice fruit definition, which appears no matter how rich and thickly concentrated the Petit Verdot grape can be (as it is here)”
    • 92 points– Maurizio Fuselli 2017, “This is the proverbial Big wine (with a capital B) that would benefit from a few more years of cellar age.”
    • 92 points– Aldone 2017, “The 2017 Aldone is a pure expression of Merlot … This is a rich and thickly concentrated Tuscan red that reveals Morello cherry, blackberry confit, sweet tobacco and baking spice.”
    • 91 points– Marchesale 2017, “Marchesale is a creamy and rich wine … There is plenty of dark fruit and dried blackberry, but the wine shows sweet notes of white chocolate, cinnamon and dark plum cake. The finish is moderate and the wine is more tapered and slender than I might have expected.”
    • 90 points– Tarabuso 2017, “A pure expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2017 Il Tarabuso opens to dark fruit, toasted nut and abundant spice, all mixed with sweet white chocolate … The wine prizes softness and richness, and the mouthfeel is especially focused on those themes.”
    • 90 points– Emilio Primo Rosso 2018, “The wine opens to dark and hearty aromas that are stacked on a solid base of black cherry, plum and blackberry. Savory notes frame the fruit, adding spice, leather and a touch of mineral or pencil shaving. To the palate, this is a soft and generous wine.”
